Arshavin: Sell me to Gunners

Soccer Betting Lines

01/22/2009 - London, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Russian star Andrei Arshavin has urged Zenit St. Petersburg to allow him to join Arsenal.

Arshavin, 27, has already been the subject of one unsuccessful bid - believed to be in the region of $16.6 million - from the Gunners this month, with the Russian club believed to be holding out for nearly $25 million.

But after seeing potential moves to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Tottenham fail to materialize during the summer window, the international forward is even turning to God in a bid to secure his transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

He has also called on the UEFA Cup holders to lower their valuation of him.

"My hopes now rest with God. Apart from him, nobody can help me," he told The Times. "I see Arsenal as my team of the future. Everything now depends on Zenit. If they want to sell me they can do it very quickly.

"My intentions to leave the club have not changed since the summer. It is obvious that in these times of (financial) crisis, no one will offer such a big amount.

"Zenit have to think realistically. I believe that Arsenal's offer is much closer to my real value in the transfer market at the moment."
