08/08/2010 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Trevor Cahill hopes to give Oakland another strong pitching performance, as the Athletics conclude a three-game set with the Texas Rangers today at the Coliseum.
Last night, Gio Gonzalez tossed seven shutout innings, and Coco Crisp homered and drove in three runs to lead Oakland over American League West-leading Texas, 6-2, in the middle installment of a three-game series.
Gonzalez (10-7) held the Rangers to four hits and three walks while fanning two for the Athletics, who have alternated wins and losses over their past eight contests and remain 8 1/2 games back of the division leaders.
Taylor Teagarden homered for Texas, while Rich Harden (4-4), in his second start since being activated off the disabled list, only lasted 2 1/3 innings thanks to five walks allowed. The former A's ace gave up two hits and three runs in his shortest outing of the year.
"(Harden) didn't have any command. He couldn't place his fastball where he wanted to and couldn't get his changeup over," said Texas manager Ron Washington.
Toeing the rubber for Texas today will be Colby Lewis, who has dropped three consecutive starts while receiving just two total runs of support during that stretch. On Tuesday, the right-hander gave up three earned runs and nine hits over six innings of a 3-2 loss at Seattle. He struck out nine in falling to 4-6 on the road.
In three starts against the A's this season, Lewis is 0-2 with a 3.15 ERA. He has received a total of just three runs from Texas in those appearances.
Cahill, meanwhile, gets the nod for Oakland and he is currently riding a streak of 18 straight scoreless innings that spans three games. On Monday, the 22-year-old tossed a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over Kansas City. It marked the first complete game for Cahill, who is holding opponents to a league-low .192 batting average.
The right-hander has had his way with the Rangers as well, boasting a 5-1 record and a 1.83 ERA in seven career starts against them. In three meetings versus Texas this season, Cahill is 2-0 with a glaring 0.96 ERA.
Texas, though, has won six of its 11 matchups with the A's this season.

Will Ohio State continue to run the table in College Football betting odds?
MySportsbook.com favors Buckeyes, Fighting Irish and Golden Bears in this weekend's big games.
NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 21 - My Sportsbook NCAA football fans: things are beginning to get really interesting on college football's national stage. Following last weekend's "Separation Saturday", which included five teams ranked in the top 15 dropping games, the BCS Championship picture is beginning to take shape - with Ohio State leading the charge. And, according to odds makers at MySportsbook.com, the number-one-ranked Buckeyes will continue their winning ways this weekend.
Revenge will be the name of the game in Columbus this Saturday, as Ohio State looks to even the score following last season's loss to Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions. Although Penn State are listed as 16.5 point underdogs, they are 11-10 all-time versus the Buckeyes. Paterno and the Lions, however, will have to shut down Heisman Trophy favorite Troy Smith who has thrown for 769 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Speaking of revenge, Notre Dame will be out for some against Michigan State, following last year's 44 - 41 overtime loss to the Spartans in South Bend. The thirteenth-ranked Irish, listed as a 3-point favorite, will also be looking to avenge last Saturday's thrashing from the Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans, meanwhile, have won seven of the last nine match-ups against Notre Dame and are coming off an impressive 38-23 victory over Pittsburgh.
Out west, 22nd-ranked Arizona State will be battling for their first victory over 21st-ranked California since 2000. Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds
With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.
Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season. Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.
This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy. A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
Current betting odds Heisman trophy are:
